An Ann Coulter speech at Berkeley set for next week has been canceled by college officials over security concerns, but the conservative firebrand said she will still be going to the University of California campus anyway.
The university’s vice chancellors Scott Biddy and Stephen Sutton informed two student groups, Berkeley College Republicans and BridgeUSA, via email on Wednesday that Coulter’s speech was off until at least September, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.
“We have been unable to find a safe and suitable venue for your planned April 27 event featuring Ann Coulter,” said the email, per the Chronicle. “In the wake of events surrounding the planned appearance by (conservative) Milo Yiannopoulos in February, as well as several riots which have occurred in recent weeks in the city of Berkeley, we have increased our scrutiny regarding the time and location of high-profile speakers so that these events can go forward unimpeded.”&
